Ally Legato is a conceptual photographer and digital artist based in San Francisco. She is currently producing a body of work which illustrates the impact of modern emotional weight called, T H E  W A K E.

She began using photography as a medium when she was fifteen, but studied light and composition at a much younger age. Legato grew up in the foothills of Northern Los Angeles, with access to several acres of undeveloped land and an impressionable desert color palate. Her memories of the hues at different times of the year are potent and archival. They are woven into her memory with residual visceral weight, and often dominate her memory and imagination. Her first interests in photography were derived from a desire to capture these memories.
